After their critically acclaimed first two albums “Herr Wade dreht am Kabel”, as well as “Tatsächlich nur ein Lied” and various EPs, Herr Wade released a single every month last year with the help of international support, each in a different language. A virtual trip around the world in search of the legendary amusement park “Wadeland”, a landscape where everything feels like a perpetual vacation.
This double album compiles the singles from 2023, including the year-end song “Bis ich leb” and two previously unreleased songs on the theme of “Arriving home”.
The 2 CDs operate under the headings “Sail on... Vacationing Where Other People Live” and “Wadeland... Living Where Other People Vacation”.
Musically, the listener can expect Herr Wade's typical play with genre boundaries: from jangly indie pop, influences from Brian Wilson and Ennio Morricone, power pop to jazzy schlager, bossa nova, dreampop, psychedelia and folk - everything is there. The songs are fun, make you dream, think, laugh, cry and be amazed. The recording was again based on the tried and tested ping pong principle: the lo-fi sketches, which slowly build up in this way, swing back and forth from southern Norway to northwestern Germany and back again, but only until the desired emotion is felt.
